Well worth the price
I bought this TV a couple of weeks ago, and I am still blown away by the quality of the picture and the general all round class of it. Have Sky HD and watching sport on this screen has reminded both me and my husband of courting days spent at Anfield.I went for this set because it was a reasonably priced model from a good manufacturer and I think it is one of the wisest buying decisions I have made in a long time.

Ordered from Amazon 16.27 Friday, estimated delivery Tuesday, having breakfast Monday 07.50, doorbell, new TV, amazing Amazon!!. As to the Philips TV again amazing, so simple to set up even a 3 year old could do it!. I have never seen a clearer picture, almost 3D, and the sound quality betters many expensive hi-fi systems I could name. Altogether an extremely good value purchase, too good for the kitchen where it was destined (I could have a problem with my wife over that so it looks like another purchase shortly). Don't look any further if you are thinking of purchasing a new digital/freeview LCD TV of this size, this has to be it.4
Review for Philips 26PFL5522D - 26" Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV - With Freeview:
I have to say that it is fantastic. The picture quality is brilliant and i see no problem with the sound as other reviewers are saying. It really is not worth the extra money for a sony as this tv is as good or if not better. The sound and picture settings are very easy to use and Blu-ray films are brilliant on it.
Very strongly recommended

My ex-girlfriend solved the problem for me by chucking me out of the house at Christmas and taking custody of the TV so hopefully it will break in the future, taking the washing machine, DVD, kettle and toaster with it...! Not bitter though....

Excellent while you have it!
Cannot agree more with the previous review. Picture quality is second to none, however the sound is rather 'tinny' at times. It must be said as with any HD Ready set that when viewing non HD transmission, low settings should be utilised to 'soften' the image. On the downside, there was one instance where the TV had to return to the manufacturer as one day the picture didn't come on. This was resolved as far as I know.My ex-girlfriend solved the problem for me by chucking me out of the house at Christmas and taking custody of the TV so hopefully it will break in the future, taking the washing machine, DVD, kettle and toaster with it...! Review for Philips 23PFL5522D - 23" Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV - With Freeview:
Installations and set up are very easy; with analogue and digital channels all atomatically tuned in without me having to grab for the manual.
Problem I've got though, is that the brightness and colour balance varies significantly depending on the angle at which you are viewing the screen. It's fine if you move side to side, but not so if you move up and down, getting lighter as you go higher and darker as you go lower.
This seems to be a charcteristic of Philips LCD TVs, as I've since been into a couple of shops and looked at other brands and they don't do the same thing (or if they do it's a lot less pronounced), but the Philips LCDs have done the same.
By setting the brightness so it's OK when I'm sat up in bed, the screen is very bright when I'm walking about.
Another odment is the digi programme guide, which doesn't show what's on by time, only by order - so you can't immediately see what programmes are on at the same time or overlap

I bought this TV just before Christmas 2007. The picture quality is great and the sound is better than any other TV I have owned. It was easy to set up and I haven't got any gripes about it. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this TV9

Had to take this TV back
We bought it from Comet and the picture was poor - dull colours and poor definition. The Freeview channel information was almost unreadable from any kind of distance. For £320 we expected better. So we went for the slightly bigger (20") and more expensive (£365 from Amazon, £385 from Comet click and collect) Sony Bravia KDL 20S2030, which we are very happy with.10

Phillips 42" Full HD TV
Its not often I review anything but this is a brilliant TV. Only thing it lacks for me is Picture in Picture & a socket to connect to a PC which both come with cheaper TV's. However 1 componant & 2 HDMI sockets is useful (console/cable/spare). As is 2 Scart sockets (DVD Player).Picture quality is fantastic on both SD & HD (Xbox360/Virgin Media HD). With quality like I havnt seen on another HD TV.

Review for Philips 26PFL7532D - 26" Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV - With Pixel Plus & Freeview:
The picture is bright and bold - though skin tones rarely look natural.
On watching movies in a dimly lit room the gloss black case only goes to show that"black" on the picture isn't quite as black as it should be. Looking even slightly at an angle to the screen this gets worse. Having compared with a few others maybe this is just a feature of LCDs - I'm not sure this one is that much better or worse than similar offerings.
The bit that really offends my eye however is there is something very odd going on when things move....whilst you can notice it on normal pictures as moving picture being a bit"blurry" perhaps the proof is on titles which over a certain speed become absolutely illegible (considerably more so than the same material on my old TV and on both analogue and digital signals).
So in summary....I'm not glad I bought it.
---------
Having submitted my initial review it's developed a fault (horizontal wobbles on all inputs), and I have returned it.

Review for Philips 47PFL7642D - 47" Widescreen 1080P Full HD LCD TV -With Freeview:
I decided to take the plunge and upgrade my 32" widescreen JVC CRT.
I have to say I am exceptionally pleased with the quality and picture - I used the supplied stand which was very easy to set up (6 screws).
I have it linked up to Virgin V+ box, Xbox with XBMC, HD-DVD, and Denon upscaling DVD player. The sound is routed through an amp - so can't really comment about the sound (but seemed OK when I set it up)
The picture is particularly impressive with HD channels on the V+ box (at 1080i), but the quality of the picture on (most) normal channels is surprisingly good and much better than on a normal TV.
Overall I am happy, and hope this will be pretty"futureproof"

Review for Philips 42PFL5522D - 42" Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV - With Freeview:
Anyway, The Tv itself is great for this price. Obviously I can't give it a full 5 stars as it is only 1080i and not 1080p but,as I don't have a 1080p source, this isn't a problem for me. The picture is bright and clear with the ability to set up your own settings profile if the pre-installed ones aren't to your liking. The HD picture is amazing, of course, but it's the SD picture that is of most importance as most TV is still brodcast that way and you won't be disappointed. The sound quality is superb and the TV itself look amazing - important as it's huge and going to be sitting in your living room.
All-in-all a great buy and I'm extremely happy with it - just a shame I had to buy it elsewhere.

Great TV - Lousy Amazon
I had to buy this TV from Currys due to Amazons refusal to ship large items to Northern Ireland. 'Problems with the couriers' say Amazon, so how did Currys get it here?Anyway, The Tv itself is great for this price. Review for Philips 37PFL7662D - 37" Widescreen 1080P Full HD LCD TV - With Freeview:
DVD looks quite good, but the upscaling is notable, especially on menu texts, which can look a little choppy, but this is more of a limitation of DVD quality than the tv. Blu-Ray movies look incredible, and the Digital channels definately look sharper and smoother than the analogue ones.
Despite what formal reviews have said about the sound, I was actually quite impressed. Many reviews state that the sound quality is poor at upper levels - personally I think you need to be deaf to have it that high. I've only raised it up to half volume so far and it sounds great. If you want better than that, then you'd probably invest in a dedicated surround system anyhow - and not rely on in-built speakers. They are more than ample for the majority of us casual users!
My only niggle with it is the menu. It's not the most intuitive menu there is and pretty much requires you to read the manual to figure it out (e.g. sorting channels) - hence my only reason for not giving it 5 stars.
Very very happy and no reservations in recommending it to anyone.

Excellent!
I waited awhile before upgrading to a HD tv and just bought this model. First impression: Wow! The colours are stunning, with the display being bright and sharp - making my Sony VAIO AR51M's screen look dim in comparison (and that's saying something).DVD looks quite good, but the upscaling is notable, especially on menu texts, which can look a little choppy, but this is more of a limitation of DVD quality than the tv. Great TV from a TV Hater!!!!
I reluctantly got a TV for my little girl as I had been without one for over a year!!! Got used to the peace and quiet which was lovely.... however eventually gave in to this model and I have absolutely no complaints. For the price this is an excellent deal. My cousin has a Sony, and in my opinion, this is almost as good for half the price. Go buy one! ;-)
