Sky+ HD Official Remote Control

Used Price: £4.25
New Price: £5.00

Review for Sky+ HD Official Remote Control:
Amazing!
You know how every now and then these days something happens and it makes you feel good, well this is it for me.
My old Sky HD remote was getting past it so I ordered this replacement from Buyme through Amazon and to my surprise and delight it was despatched the same day and arrived next morning which is great service in itself. To add to that I also received an e-mail from Buyme telling me how to set up my new remote to work with my Panasonic TV together with a full list of the possible codes. The remote is exactly as supplied with the Sky HD box but at an excellent price. A great product at a great price and a super service from Buyme!

Review for Sky Remote Control - White:
Maybe mine was a one off
My remote has lost a button within a month of use and is just generally rubbish. I've ordered a standard remote now. This lighter one feels flimsy and, I don't know, perhaps mine was a one off dud

Sky Universal Remote Control - Black

Used Price: £1.81
New Price: £3.49

Review for Sky Universal Remote Control - Black:
Imitation remote: Do not buy if you want original
The remote sent to me was not an original (as stated in the description), but a cheap, no-name imitation. It needs to be reprogrammed practically every day....The seller has not contacted me back, after I wrote to complain. Do not buy this if you want a Sky original remote. Unfortunately it would cost me more to send it back than I paid for it, so I will have to take a loss on it. Clearly the seller is counting on the fact that most people won't return it.

Philips SRU7140 - Universal remote control - infrared

Used Price: £5.49
New Price: £8.48

Review for Philips SRU7140 - Universal remote control - infrared:
Dinky yes, quality no
Yes the product is dinky hiding the mass of buttons u never use on a remote. However it just doesn't have enough buttons to allow a complete replacement for even a TV let alone DVD & STB. The overloading of functions onto the compass rose for teletext+play+arrow functions is OK until your STB needs all three and u can only have 2 (normal and shifted) functions associated with a button.

However the clincher is the poor build quality. If u keep it closed it is OK. But open, it rattles like a cheap plastic toy.

To cap it all after only 2 months moderate use the supplied battery was so low the unit starts failing. Hopefully the new one will last nearer the stated 12 months lifetime!

The design in principle is a good idea, but it needs much better build quality and an extra 4 separate coloured teletext buttons at least.

Philips SRU3030/10 - 3 in 1 Universal Remote Control

New Price: £9.99

Review for Philips SRU3030/10 - 3 in 1 Universal Remote Control:
Not what it claimed
It says on the box 'Has all the original remote's essential keys'.
I bought it because our old Philips TV was not bright enough and there was no brightness key on the TV because it was part of their remote control. This Universal Philips remote did not have that facility - and I searched the booklet for a way to do it - all in vain. We've had to throw the old TV away, and did not replace it with a Philips

PHILIPS DTR220/05 REMOTE CONTROL NEW REPLACEMENT

New Price: £7.99

Review for PHILIPS DTR220/05 REMOTE CONTROL NEW REPLACEMENT:
Phillips DTR 220 replacement controller
After the freeview controller suddenly failed to work I scanned around and found this replacement item and ordered it
Delivery was very quick and the item , although differing from the original is - in my opinion- better than the item supplied with the freeview box and was easily set up
I would recommend this to anyone who needs a new controller

Review for Philips SRU8015/10 Prestigo 15-in-1 Remote Control:
Money well wasted...
I bought this remote as a replacement for my old Kameleon URG-8206 which I thought ws very stylish at the time of purchase, but over the years, had become worn out. I researched my options, and quickly found out that the choice had to be between this remote or a Logitech model. Since I liked the design of this remote better than Logitech's, I decided to buy it, and what a mistake that was...

The first impression is that this remotecontrol is very heavy compared to other remotes that I've owned, but this isn't necessary a bad thing, and sometimes signals a quality product. To quote the blood-sucking lawyer in"Jurassic Park": If it's heavy, then it's expensive. The remote is certainly both heavy and expensive, but funtionality wise it's pretty much useless, at least for me. The trouble is that appearently only my televison set is in the remote's database, and hence, I have to"teach" the remote to control my other devices. This is kind of laughable, since the television-set is the oldest of my devices. And to add to that: You have to manually enter every single function you want this remote to perform. Since Philips was the co-inventor of the compact disc, and as such presumably must know a thing or two about sound, it is a mystery, wrapped in an enigma why the option to program this remote by wave files isn't there.

Some people have complained that the scrolling wheel, obviously"inspired" by the iPod, is far to sensitive, and they might be right, but I didn't find this to be problem. The thing that struck me to be borderline idiotic was that after you have scrolled to the menu item you want, you have press a button placed below the scrolling wheel, instead of the big, fat"OK" button placed in the CENTER of the wheel. How intuitive is that?(!) Some standard buttons excels in not being there: Where is the teletext button, for instance? You have to SCROLL your way down several menu items to find it. Very poor design if you are a frequent user of this feature. I like the design, though...

Philips SBCL1800 Wireless Remote Control Link

New Price: £34.94

Review for Philips SBCL1800 Wireless Remote Control Link:
Great piece of kit - just be sure it works with your particular device
I have to agree with everything said above. It is simple and straightforward and works straight out of the box. It looks good and functions effectively.

The one major drawback is that for some bizarre reason, it is not compatible with all remote control systems. An infra-red beam is an infra-red beam or so I thought applying my school physics lessons. Other reviewers have warned of this issue and so I took the trouble to check Philips' website and made sure my Virgin Media set-top box wasn't on the list of non-compatible equipment. It wasn't. It was only when I got the stuff home that I realised the list published by Philips is not exhaustive. So it works fine with my JVC video, Philips DVD and Sony stereo, but not my Virgin Media set-top box.

I think Philips could spend more time telling people what it does and does not work with.

Minor niggles: each of the two units needs its own mains power supply thereby limiting where you can put the receiver unit. Also, the two units are confusingly labelled: the one you point your remote at is called the transmitter and the one that passes on the signal is called the receiver.

But overall as long as your equipment is compatible, I would recommend it.

Philips SRU 5110- Universal TV Remote Control - Operates Over 1000 Brands

New Price: £22.60

Review for Philips SRU 5110- Universal TV Remote Control - Operates Over 1000 Brands:
Not really universal
Be very careful, when this says 'universal' it means 'universal for TVs', not universal - as others do - for types of device: i.e. TV, DVD, SAT, CD, AMP etc. So be very careful it's what you want. It wasn't what I do.
