Review for Philips NP1100/05 Network Music Player with Wireless Music Streaming, Internet Radio and Digital Sound Output:
Does what it says on the box.......
I'm in a poor FM/DAB area so once I connected to a DSL line I wanted to stream radio stations and distribute via my Russound amp. I looked at several options value for money was my biggest concern yet it had to work and work well. The NP1100/05 works very well, I have always been a fan of Philips and this devise increases my confidence in that electronic maker.

I have rated it with four stars and the reason why its not a five for me it that you cannot assign saved stations to the 0 to 9 pre-sets on the remote. This would have been good because I wanted to place the device in my systems area, set it up and walk away. Luckily I have a Logitech Harmony one remote which allows me create several sequences i.e. this remote with one press of a button searches, highlights and connects to each saved favourite radio station. The lack of saving to pre-sets ability would only effect users who would not need to interact with the large display screen on the front of the NP1100.

Overall quite easy to set up, easy to search , quality of sound excellent, choice of radio stations excellent and great value.

Great for the oldies
My parents love this little player. It's easy to use and doesn't have many buttons to press, so nothing confusing there.
Great for that little bit of background music.

DAB HI-FI
I purchased this DAB Hi-Fi system as a replacement for my existing Hi-Fi which had broken, I checked a few reviews and decided that this system would suit me, the price was good and the item was available for immediate delivery. I have been pleased with the sound quality of the DAB radio, but I cannot comment on the CD player as I have not tried it yet, I'm sure that anyone who decides to purchase this item will be pleased with it.

Broke within a week
Very nice looking, stylish and sleek but build quality wasn't up to scratch. After one week of moderate usage the product stopped working completely. Had to send it back for a refund and purchased a better quality Sony.

Review for Philips MCi300/05 Wireless Micro HiFi System:
Fantastic
I am thrilled by the lovely tone, and love the different pop, classiscal rock etc settings, everything works well, the CD player plays both CD's and MP3's. The USB socket copes well with IPods. The internet radio works brilliantly as does the Universal plug & play If like me the router is infrequently turned off then the freestanding FM radio is great. The 40 Watts RMS operates beautifully the inclusion of a cooling fan was a good inclusion, heat is never good in electronics.
Installation was easy though typing the WEP code was laborious.
This was possibly the best purchase I have made.

Chaep tat-avoid
This thing has just died on me, no doubt the power supply has gone wrong as it's the usual thing with these sort of products, made as cheap as possible, a well known manufacturer sticks a label on it to con us into thinking it's a quality product, when it did work, the dab reception was terrible with an ugly wire aerial and no socket to fit a better one, and. no it's not my area, others work fine next to it, I don't usually write reviews but felt I must warn others not to waste your money

Review for Philips WAS6050/05 Wireless Music System with Internet Radio and WooX Speaker Technology:
A microcosm of all that's good and bad about hi-tech
After buying this internet radio at a bargain price of £70 I thought I might be in for bumpy ride and that's what happened. When going through the tricky set up and configuration procedures I thought my problems would be over, but not by a long way. Finalising the registration on the Philips website I got the last email back saying all I had to do was switch on and enjoy. Unfortunately the radio always failed to go online and I thought I had to connect it to the PC internet with an ethernet cable so I went out and bought one, but all to no avail. At the point of despair and dreading going back to the shop demanding a refund etc. I realised I'd been in this position several times before in my techno-life and decided to press on to try and make it work.

Going through several internet options I stumbled upon the Philips facility of an online chat to one of their technical representatives. This proved to be a breakthrough, he told me to set up a new email address, re-register and, crucially, wait a period of 48 hours so that any backlogs may clear, whatever that means! So I waited patiently for two days and tried to connect this radio again to the internet and, to my disappointment and no great surprise, it failed to connect asking me for my email address again, which I was told not to send to by the Philips guy because repeated requests of registrations to the same address may cause errors at the Philips end.

I don't exactly know why I did what I did next but I reconnected the radio to the PC internet again with the ethernet cable and retried sending from the radio to the email address I first used several days ago, I suppose I was trying anything and everything out in desperate acts of clutching at straws. To my surprise again the radio asked me for a password, which had never happened before. After trying several different personal passwords, because it had been days ago when I added the correct password to Philips registration and had forgotten what it was, it let me through and requested if I wanted to upgrade the Firmware, which I had heard about from the eclectic rants of previous reviewers of this product, of course I upgraded it and, after a couple of minutes of digital grinding from the infernal machine - ALLELUIA! it presented me with loads of different choices of loads of different stations which I tuned into and the radio played well and continues to do up to the present time, with no further problems (knock wood!)

What of the radio when it does work? The information screen is barely adequate but it gives more data with greater detail than my last radio, however, the sound from it is excellent for a unit this size and the streaming speed from it is an improvement as is the success rate of station acquisition. There are plenty of stations from several different station providers to choose from and I am still going through these looking for my favourites like"Nasa TV Audio" and"Beyond the Ordinary" and the like.

What can be said about this experience? After paying a fair amount of money punters don't deserve to go through all the hassle, heartbreak, hope and despair of getting a hi-tech product to work properly, but this happens all the time everywhere and getting these things to work is a compliment to human endurance and persistence and increases the appreciation of the devices, I suppose.

If you want a reliable and inexpensive internet radio with good sound capability and station choice, this one could be for you, but be prepared to put up with days or even weeks of frustration trying to get it to work. For all these reasons I am giving the Philips WAS6050 a rating of 3 stars out of 5.

PHILIPS MCD716 MICRO-SYSTEM

Used Price: £129.99
New Price: £199.99

Review for PHILIPS MCD716 MICRO-SYSTEM:
Excellent Microsystem - but not with original speakers
Very convenient multipurpose stereo microsystem, suitable for watching DVD/CD films in many different formats; listen to DVD/CD/USB/MP3 music and sound form TV.
Excellent quality of DVD/CD player and amplifier, however the quality of original speakers - in my opinion - not good enough to enjoy the sound. Finally I decided to buy another extra pair of speakers (KEF). Now the microsystem sounds great and it is a pleasure to listen to its music.

One more disadvantage - you have to buy extra cables (about £20) to be able to listen to the TV sound via the speakers of the microsystem.

Philips WAK3300/05 Wireless Music Station

Used Price: £60.00
New Price: £100.50

Review for Philips WAK3300/05 Wireless Music Station:
Good thing in not so small package!
When I first saw this unit advertised I thought it wouldn't be any good as it just seemed to be a very pricey alarm clock...but a bit more research lead me to think it was worth a try, and it was!
Ordered this on Tuesday and it was delivered Thursday! It actually seems bigger in real life than it appears in pictures, the size of the parcel threw me when it arrived...I really expected something a lot smaller. Fairly straightforward to set up, and sound is very good for a small unit (if you need to shake the walls your main unit should be able to do that, and then you wouldn't need the separate stations anyway).
Does just what I wanted, plays music via the main unit's hard drive any room its plugged in. Why spend 3 or 4 times the price on something that does virtually the same things....I think I'll be buying another one.

Phillips WAS7000/05 Wireless Music Station

New Price: £279.00

Review for Phillips WAS7000/05 Wireless Music Station:
Excellent piece of Equipment
Having had modular Hi Fi units before with stand alone speakers, I was somewhat sceptical of Phillips claim regarding this system. How wrong can you be the sound is superb it does everything it says on the box. It plays MP3, Cd's and recordings from it own HDU. The wireless connection is first rate with no interference; transfer from CD to HDU is quick and easy. I would recommend this equipment without hesitation.

Philips MC230 Home audio system

Used Price: £55.00

Review for Philips MC230 Home audio system:
Stylish stereo that sounds great
I'm not an expert on stereos but I know this one sounds great. My young son is tranfixed by the blue light and the the see through cd player. The sound quality is fantastic even when turned up loud and they are a few different settings to play around with that actually work!

The radio scans for new stations automatically and the reception is fantastic.

For added designer look this unit can be mounted to the wall which works well as its so slim line - though the wires hanging down can be a bit annoying!

All in all we think its the best sounding stereo in this price range.
