Good value and sound good too!
If you compare the prices of some other branded portable speakers these represent good value for money. I thought the previous review somewhat unfair but agree they are not suitable for in car use. I use them with both my MP3 player (Samsung T10) and my Pinnacle Soundbridge internet radio and the volume level and sound quality is more than adequate without using the battery powered amplifier section. Philips offer a passive (non-amplified) version the SBP1100/00 that look the same so presumably sound the same and are even cheaper!3

I can recommend these as a big step up from the exceptionally poor speakers normally found in laptops and portable DVD players and are more than adequate for portable use.

Excellent little product
Very pleasantly surprised with the clarity and general quality of the sound with no detectable distortion at fairly high volume levels. Cannot yet tell how long the battery life will be but I intend using re-chargeables and re-charge in the car. The speakers pack neatly into a well designed protective bag.I can recommend these as a big step up from the exceptionally poor speakers normally found in laptops and portable DVD players and are more than adequate for portable use.

Great Sound! Poor design!
If you are looking for a pair of PC Speakers that sound great (as most people would!) then look no further! The sound quality is superb! However, in my opinion, these speakers are let down in two ways. Firstly, the very flimsy stands - THEY ARE USELESS! If you open the window then beware - they COULD blow over. The slightest knock on the table or desk and over they go.... Mine constantly fall over and have many dents to proove it. These speakers are not cheap - but the stands make them look like a £10 pair! And secondly, the almost useless on/off/volume switch. The switch is located on the side of one of the speakers and unless you have small hands and long nails then prepare for a very"fiddley" and frustrating time switching them on and turning them up! All-in-all, great sound, poor design.

You simply can't go wrong with a 100 watt output (and Philips do the bizz) they really punch out any youtube entry with balanced bright/deep life-like vigor. For domestic they're the ticket - Go for it :D)

Well after sifting over a few pages of PC speakers, these have to be the cleanest looking of all.. great stuff for that price!
I deal quite a lot with music. these speakers have a powerful base sound. the middle range is not so briliant. you can't play very loud, but for a smaller room the sound is incredible for the price! If you look for something cheap, I doubt that it can get better than that!9

good sounds
This product has excellent sound quality for the price. Packs into the supplied bag although a bit more thought could have been given to bag design so the plug fitted in a bit better. Plug will go in but with difficulty. Very pleased with the system.10

Not too great
I got this set last year (2007) and I'm REALLY dissapointed. If you use a x64 operating system, don't even bother buying them: they won't work.Driver support is horrible, and there is no improvement expected on short term.

It's Okay
Sound is not that loud even when my iPod is on full volume, which is usually deafening with earphones. This quite worrying as I've only had these a short time, hopefully I can update with a more positive review after having them some time.
