Stay Clear of this and Phillips
Good sound but dreadful fit. I lost one of the rubber inserts after a month on the only size that fitted me which makes them unusable. Asked Philips where I could get some new ones, but they replied they could not help. Escalated to a complaint and was given the brush off by their customer services. Without the earbud the product is in effect useless and I consider it to be broken. Will not buy Philips again if I can help it as their customer service is not good.85

The good points: Sound quality is very good for the price of the unit, the CD works well and it's generally easy to use. Bass boost works quite well, you will probably want it on all the time when listening to music.
The unit is fairly attractive although the photos don't show you that it's quite deep.
This is used by my son in his bedroom and gives him hours of pleasure listening to talking books and football commentary.
Can't really fault it at the price.

Excellent value for money
The bad points: there is no MP3 connection and no remote control. The radio is a bit fiddly to tune in sometimes.The good points: Sound quality is very good for the price of the unit, the CD works well and it's generally easy to use. Bass boost works quite well, you will probably want it on all the time when listening to music.

Had the product set up in minutes, plug in the scart from the digi box and the other to the TV and thats it!
The recording buffer which automatically records whatever you're watching is fantastic. Watched a DVD and found that the hard disc had recorded what was on the digi box which was great. Easy to rewind and pause live TV.
Fully recommended. Would get 5 stars if I could work out how to set the default channel to the decoder scart!

Great product for non freeview digital users
Got this product as we have virgin cable and wanted something that could record onto a hard disc, which pretty much rules out everything with a built in freeview tuner.Had the product set up in minutes, plug in the scart from the digi box and the other to the TV and thats it!

Bought mine in Spain 2 days ago.Followed the booklet instructions and got it going.The on-CD users manual was better for details.Sucessfully downloaded BBC podcasts(dial-up connection!)loaded playlists-deleted and added a photo.All as claimed-except as mentioned by others switching OFF is 'difficult'.Wish I had bought a bigger one!94

DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE!
This is a nice system, apart from one very bad 'undocumented feature'. If you play a CD where there are no gaps between tracks (e.g. a piece of classical music such as Strauss's Ein Heldenleben), the CD player pauses at each track number change and 'blanks' the sound for two or three seconds. I tried a number of CDs with continuous music on them and they all behaved the same. On any of the other CD players that I have access to the music played seamlessly, as indeed it should. I spoke to Philips about the problem and they said it was the way the CD player worked, that they had had lots of complaints about it (I bet!) and that they will be doing something about it - but they gave no timescale. Unless and until they fix this issue I would not recommend this system at all. I bought mine on a Sunday and took it back for a refund on Thursday. The retailer didn't bat an eyelid, which makes me suspect I wasn't the first disgruntled buyer of this item...98

Had to take this TV back
We bought it from Comet and the picture was poor - dull colours and poor definition. The Freeview channel information was almost unreadable from any kind of distance. For £320 we expected better. So we went for the slightly bigger (20") and more expensive (£365 from Amazon, £385 from Comet click and collect) Sony Bravia KDL 20S2030, which we are very happy with.Computer Peripherals, DVD Players, DVD Recorders, Headphones, Micro Systems, Mini Systems, Personal CD Players, DECT Phones, Radios, Remote Controls, Televisions, Video Recorders, MP3 & Digital Audio , Set-top Boxes, DVD Systems
A good buy
I only realised how good these are when they were nicked and I bought a different set. I agree about the cancelling unit getting in the way and therefore bought a different set as replacement. However I listen to a lot of podcasts whilst commuting on the London Underground, and with my new set I cant hear them properly. With these noise reduction ones I could hear every word. They are worth every penny. One word of advice though ... the price in the US is the same in dollars as the sterling price ie around 29 bucks compared to 29 pounds. If you are going to the US pick up a set from there. Next time I go I will buy another pair.
