NOT XP COMPATIBLE
If you have media Center XP then DO NOT BUY THIS REMOTE. The receiver does not work with XP, only the remote works and you have to have an older 2005 receiver for it to do that. Don't waste your money if you don't have the receiver already.65

Review for Philips Prestigo SRU9600 - 8 in 1 Universal Remote Control - With LCD Touch Display:
Big, Cumbersome and doesn't do the job.
It seemed like a good idea at the time. It could not get the hand of my new Toshiba TV. It works by having about 30 goes to control the TV. Each time it switches off the TV and asks you to confirm everything works. On each go the Guide button did not work. My poor TV was switched off and on while it tried to get the correct codes, which it failed to do. I gave up that idea and manually programmed the Guide key which then worked, but the arrow keys changed the channel instead of navigating round the menu. The unit is big and cumbersome and does not offer the fully range of controls my PVR remote offers. Overall not very impressed and I stick with originals

Review for Philips 4331 MSN/VOIP Compatible Digital Cordless Telephone:
When I installed it I was very disappointed to learn that I could only purchase credit for the Verizon service using Amex or Diners Club credit cards. Consequently I never used the VOIP function of the phone.
Today, I learnt that the Verizon service is no longer available at all. I am now stuck with a very useless Philips VOIP phone.
The fact that this phone's VOIP function can only be used with Windows Live Messenger and now can't even be used to phone anyone other than other MSN users severely restricts its usefulness.

4331 VOIP only compatible with Windows Live Messenger.
I bought this product through Amazon a few months ago with the intention to use it as my home phone and also to make international calls using Windows Live Messenger's pre-pay service for making calls to landlines (Verizon Web Calling). When I installed it I was very disappointed to learn that I could only purchase credit for the Verizon service using Amex or Diners Club credit cards. Consequently I never used the VOIP function of the phone.

Review for Philips SBA290 Portable Speaker System:
Now the good news. These speakers really do benefit from being 'run in', as many people recommend for headphones, and a couple of simple mods. If possible, play the unit continually for a couple of days or more at fairly high (but not distorting) volume (use the power adapter, obviously). The speakers loosen up nicely, and the bass response improves dramatically. Next, try plugging up the ports on the back of the unit, and damping down the enclosure (on the well-known principle that one should hear the speakers and not the box). I used blue tack and electrician's tape inside the rear cover, so nothing spoils the outer appearance. The top end becomes much sweeter, and the sound now has a depth and clarity which is very impressive indeed for such a small unit.

Review for Philips SBA290 Portable Speaker System:
Acoustic speakers? Are there any other kind?
First impressions of this natty little unit were 'OK-ish, but where's this impressive bass everyone mentions?' The higher frequencies also can be harsh & grating, and the resonant frequency of the little speaker units can be hit all too often by any female vocalist, resulting in an ear-piercing note. In fact, the closer I listened, the more disappointed I became (speaking as a perfectionist audiophile :)Now the good news. Review for Philips MMS460 Surround Sound PC Speakers 5.1:
I really like the look of these speakers going on the review and the Specification but I would like to be told"What is the signal-to-noise ratio of these speakers?". Once I know this then i will know whether to buy them because I know it is quite an important spec to be high for the sound quality.
Thanks

Review for Philips SE6352 Digital Cordless Telephone With Answering Machine:
I've had these up and running for a couple of days now and the sound quality is perfect. Tried it in the garage, upstairs and in the garden (about 60 feet from the base unit) with no noticeable loss in quality. The base is tiny by comparison to our older Freestyle (the working one of which is now connected to give us 3 handsets) and moving the phone book from my mobile's sim card to both handsets was a breeze. More importantly my wife likes them too.

Review for Philips SE6352 Digital Cordless Telephone With Answering Machine:
Good DECT phone(s) in my opinion.
This is the first review I've ever written, but feel I had to, given the only previous one left. We'd seen this phone (SE6351 was the single version) in one of the larger stores when one of our BT Freestyle phones of 6 or 7 years started playing up and quite liked the look and feel of it. When we found it on Amazon for not much more, but with a second hand set, decided to try it, but took a few days to order it after reading the only other review that had been left which reckoned it was no use unless you were in the same room as the base.I've had these up and running for a couple of days now and the sound quality is perfect. Not really universal
Be very careful, when this says 'universal' it means 'universal for TVs', not universal - as others do - for types of device: i.e. TV, DVD, SAT, CD, AMP etc. So be very careful it's what you want. It wasn't what I do.73

These were rubbish! Sound distorts above half volume, which wasn't much louder that a mobile phone speaker. Tried listening to them in the car whlie driving on the motorway and couldn't hear anything. Set them back for a refund. I suggest you save yourself the hassle by not buying them in the first place! The search for decent protable speakers goes on...

Review for Philips SPC610NC/00 Webcam:
Overview:
# Quality of the video is good, similar to other medium range VGA web cams.
# It has a still photo capture feature which takes pictures of 800x600 pixel dimensions.
# Doesn't have loads of software -- just the driver, and a Philips"VLounge" software to use it as a camera for capturing movies and stills.
# Plugs into the laptop and stays intact
# The cord is 30 cms (12 inches) long. May be inconvenient for PC users, but a USB extension cord can do the trick.
# Cord is rigid enough to stand on its own, can be bent into shapes like a pole or a stand.
# The light can be turned on or off physically by sliding the cover.
# Light is handy while typing in dark conditions; the pictures and videos are grainy though.
# It works with Yahoo! Messenger and Skype, haven't been able to test with other software yet.
Positives:
+ Very handy for a mobile laptop users
+ Doesn't take up much space and can be slid in anywhere in the laptop bag.
+ The cover protects the camera and the light. Also acts as a switch to turn them off.
Negatives:
- The chord should have been longer.
- It should have been cheaper by 5 pounds.
Extra costs:
# If you need a longer cord, or the USB port is far away from your monitor, you will need a USB extension cord. This can cost from 1 to 3 pounds.

Review for Philips SHS8001/00 Earhook Headphones:
Which? gave two other earplug headphones 4/5 for sound - the Sennheiser CX 300 and the Denon AH-C350. Which? said the Sennheiser were as good as the Philips in every respect except that the Sennheiser's allowed more sound in and weren't as easy to use. Which? said the Denon's were as good as the Philips in every respect except that the Denon's were a bit better fit, but a bit less comfortable!

Review for Philips SHS8001/00 Earhook Headphones:
Comfortable & compact with great sound
These are the white version of the black Philips SHS8000 (which I also own). They are both very comfortable and easily stay put while I dance energetically. They sound very good for such compact headphones - much better than my ipod headphones. I bought the black pair as Which? gave them the highest rating for sound of any compact plug headphones in their trial - 4/5. Which? also gave them 5/5 for preventing sound leakage (in or out). They come with 3 sizes of removable earpads which stay put but are reasonably easy to remove to change the size.Which? gave two other earplug headphones 4/5 for sound - the Sennheiser CX 300 and the Denon AH-C350. Brilliant display for the price.
I originally bought a Samsung PS50Q97HDX but was so disappointed I sent it back. The Philips is in a different league and is a winner. I am only talking about picture quality here, sound is crap but I use theatre surround so not a problem, the remote has to be seen to believed, totally cheap nasty garbage. But the important point is the image quality and this far out ways any other misgivings. I was amazed at the difference between this display and the Samsung. The image is virtually artefact free, unlike the Samsung which was like watching a piece of cubist art! As I have hundreds of DVDs which I have no intention of replacing for Blue Ray, this Plasma fits the bill. It has progressive scan and 1080i signal, none of which the Samsung has. This all adds to the quality. I would highly recommend this display for the price. So turn the lights off, crank up the volume and experience the nearest thing to cinema, fantastic kit.
